A perfect introduction to the world of natural healing.
This fun, five-weekend class features lectures, discussions and the chance to get hands-on experience with plants, both cultivated and in the wild. You*ll learn to grow your own herb garden, and to make herbal medicines to treat your family and friends. In all, you*ll gain in-depth learning about 60 plants. And youll learn how to ethically and safely harvest plants from the wild.
Was that Goldenseal or Goldenrod? Milk Thistle Tea or Mugwort?
Gone are the days of standing in the supplement aisle at the grocery store trying to figure out what you really need. Upon completing this class, you'll know what herbs are good for which conditions. And if you, or anybody you might want to treat, are allergic or sensitive to coloring agents, additives or preservatives, you can breathe easy. Why? Because herbal treatments dont contain them. There are no pesticides or chemical fertilizers, either. Just natural healing herbs, straight from Mother Earth.
Making herbal extracts and tinctures from plants you grow yourself is dramatically cheaper than buying them in the store. Many herbal tinctures found at health food stores and on-line are well over $15 an ounce. In many instances, you can make a quart of your own tincture for the same price.
The program will be taught in five weekends, each lasting from nine to four-thirty on Saturday and Sunday, with an hour and a half lunch break, offering sixty hours of classroom instruction. Four of the weekends will be held at the Chicago College of Healing Arts; one of the weekends will be held in the country, and will meet from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon for 10 hours of instruction (a total of 60 hours for the entire course). This weekend will be a camping weekend set at Glastonbury, the schools country site. Students will stay in the schools campground, or if they prefer they can also stay at a nearby bed and breakfast.
