Living With Herbs
FOUNDATIONS IN HERBALISM
The herbal industry is a rapidly growing, exhilarating field. It*s hardly possible to open a newspaper or magazine or watch the daily news without seeing some exciting new story on the promise of herbal supplements.
The Chicago College of Healing Arts is thrilled to present the first herbal education program in Chicagoland designed to give students the training they need to learn about herbs as a means of participating in a growing herbal industry as consultants, buyers and health food store owner/ operators or employees. We seek to serve those who are already working in existing mainstream medical fields and who wish to learn adjunctive therapies, and to help those who are entering the field of complementary medicine for the first time.
This yearlong program provides an introduction to plant medicine and lays the foundation for further plant medicine training. Students are taught the skills necessary for designing and making herbal formulas, as well as organic growing and wildcrafting of herbs, and the ecological and political concerns of modern herbalism. In addition, students study aromatherapy and nutrition, exciting adjunctive therapies to western herbalism.
Most importantly, Living With Herbs: Foundations in Herbalism introduces students to energetic systems of the analysis of states of health and proper herbal recommendations. Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Energetics are both investigated in a simple, easy to understand format of lively lecture and discussion.
